The pingback should show up in the comments (see #4 in the comments here) — but I don’t know if only links in the blog posts will show up, or if links in the comments will also show up. We’ll have to experiment!

I would think that a link to someone else’s blog in any blog posting — be it in North America or Africa — would generate a pingback to the linkee.
